Born and raised in Brownsville Brooklyn, Ka represents an esoteric community of MCs who pride themselves on lyricism, authenticity and originality. Ka is a former member of '90s heralded hip hop group Natural Elements and then later, half of the duo Nightbreed. With his self‐produced and critically acclaimed album Grief Pedigree, Ka helps Hip-Hop age gracefully with beautifully crafted lyrics and a haunting sound. The New York Times calls Ka "a striking rapper largely for what he forgoes: flash, filigree, any sense that the hard work is already done...The most bracing moments [on Grief Pedigree] reframe '90s New York crime rap as an act of desperation and need, not of boasting and threat." Ka's music has attracted the likes of GZA and Roc Marciano so much so that he was tapped to be featured on both of their individual albums. Ka most recently performed at the 2012 Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. In addition to writing and producing his music, Ka also directs and edits his own music videos.
