100% door profits, less costs, will go to the Pussy Riot Legal Defense Fund. Costs include minor things such as a DJ who needs a cab due to last min travel plans, minor honorariums, etc. We'll post a full rundown after the fact so it's fully transparent. The venue is donating it's space & staffing, and chipping in 5% of the bar sales towards the cause. Neither LQQK or Bandshell are retaining any funds.

Bandshell was founded by open-minded, global-thinking people, who consider themselves as representative and bearers of Russian culture and the country itself. We find it appaling, unacceptable when artists get a prison term for expressing their deepest feelings and concerns on the situation with the society. We would like to see the future where the Russians understand Pussy Riot's role in the world of arts and Russia's modern history. Considering all the things that have happened to the girls from Pussy Riot in the last 6 or 7 months since their appearance in the Russian political and cultural landscape, they will be one of those turning points in the building a free, democratic and tolerant society in Russian Federation.
LQQK adds that censorship of art & free expression like this can't be tolerated. It wasn't long ago when our own National Portrait Gallery censored a work by David Wojnarowicz on some total bullshit reasoning; and it's important that we come together to show international support for marginalized individuals, radical artists, and progressive activists. No love for dweebs who misuse power.
The outfit's own statement:
"Pussy Riot" - российская феминистская панк-группа, созданная в октябре 2011 года. Проведя целый ряд мирных перфомансов в общественных местах, группа озвучила опасность, которой подвергаются сегодня в России основные права человека, одновременно выступая за равенство мужчины и женщины, демократию и свободу слова, которые предусмотрены Конституцией Российской Федерации и другими международными документами, в том числе Всемирной декларацией прав человека и Конвенцией о ликвидации всех форм дискриминации в отношении женщин
