The Society for the Advancement of Social Studies (SASS!) is proud to present a series of lectures designed to both entertain and enlighten. On the first Tuesday of each month we will meet to discuss a different historical topic that you probably knew at one point but don’t remember anymore, plus THEMED DRINK SPECIALS.

September 2012 will mark a very important event in world history: the one year anniversary of the Society for the Advancement of Social Studies. To celebrate, we're going to drink a bunch of beer and teach you all about other famous firsts in history. Our speakers will talk about scientific discoveries that have shaped modern humanity, taboo-busting moments in TV history and firsts in space!

To make the evening extra special, we'll be awarding two VIP passes to the Intrepid Museum to the audience member with the best personal Famous First, so if you were the first person to eat a lobster on every subway line or something this could be your night!

DJ Kate Pilgrim is the first person to not lose her cool at IKEA, and as always will be providing our tunes for the evening: http://pilgrimsofsound.wordpress.com/

Stick around after the lectures and end your night right with the hilarious gentlemen and ladies of the Crappy Cinema Council: http://crappycinemacouncil.com/
