Virginia’s extreme sound nihilists PIG DESTROYER deliver savage grindcore that is both intentionally confrontational and thoroughly pummeling. PIG DESTROYER formed in 1997, when vocalist J.R. Hayes and guitarist Scott Hull decided to unite in their efforts to create utterly destructive grindcore. The trio began rehearsing and immediately found that their common musical interests produced intellige nt and incendiary music. Derived from a non-musical source as extreme as the band’s sound, PIG DESTROYER’s easily-identifiable logo took form when the emblem from the infamous Answer Me! magazine was disassembled and rearranged.

Known for effortlessly blending noise rock reminiscent of old-school Amphetamine Reptile bands with the raw and aggressive nature of modern hardcore, KEN Mode has become one of the most devastating bands in the underground. Formed in September of 1999, this crushing Canadian trio has released 3 full-length records. KEN Mode are no strangers to the road; with full tours, many times over, spanning Canada, the United States, and Europe with the likes of Pelican, Daughters, the End, Engineer, Buried Inside, Gaza and Taint; and various regional dates with Mastodon, Burnt By The Sun, Baroness, Cursed, 3 Inches of Blood, PsyOpus, Propagandhi, Despised Icon, Razor, and Ion Dissonance, to name a few; 2011 is poised to be the year of KEN Mode's divide and conquer strategy in aggressive music.

EARLY GRAVES formed in the Bay Area in early 2008 and have since released two full lengths, both on Metal Blade Records’ imprint, Iron Clad Recordings. The band’s sound has been described as a mixture of old school Swedish death metal and American hardcore punk and have drawn comparisons to Napalm Death, Carcass, Tragedy and Testament among other. Since the “rebirth,” Southern Lord Records re-released the band’s last album, “Goner,” on vinyl, in conjunction with their appearance and live re-debut at the Power of the Riff Festival in LA and then San Francisco, alongside Pelican, Pentagram, etc. The band was also selected by Scion to participate in their “Metal Matinee” series where they supported the legendary Cro Mags in Chicago and Los Angeles.

Encrust do not care if they hurt the feelings of genre purists. In fact, they seem to enjoy it. The Chicago quintet merges a wealth of extreme styles seamlessly on its debut album, From Birth To Soil, available September 25 via Density Records. Siphoning guttural growls through thunderous riffs and an extreme percussive stomp, the group—Chris Angelucci [vocals], Luke Tobias [guitar], Ryan Kasparian [guitar], Jeremy Pyrzynski [bass], and Brian Kutanovski [drums]—pummels unlike anyone else on the scene. The bassist describes this enigmatic sound best. "It runs the gamut from thrash to Southern rock," he affirms. "We take traditional elements and interpret them in our own way. We're not afraid to do whatever we want. We've got a ton of influences, and everyone's little nuances and quirks come through. Think of it like this: if five death metal dudes decided to play sludge, this would be what you get."
